He started out fighting in Gladiator Challenges 1-4, winning his bouts in each of them, followed by 17 PRIDE bouts. In 2004, while still in Japan, he picked Ricardo Arona up over his head and slammed him so hard, he knocked him unconscious. Jackson was excited when he heard that PRIDE and the UFC were merging, hoping it would give him the chance to avenge a few early-career losses, most notably, perhaps, against Wanderlei Silva.
He came to the UFC in 2006 where he defeated Marvin Eastman at UFC 67: All or Nothing with knockout by strikes, 3 minutes and 49 seconds into round 2. So far, he has won all of his UFC sanctioned fights. He followed that up by knocking out Chuck Liddell in UFC 71 to become Light Heavyweight Champion. He then beat Dan Henderson in UFC 75.
At the time of this writing, "Rampage" Jackson's overall MMA stats are 27-6-0. He is slated to be one of the coaches on an upcoming season of Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter.
