Machida Takes Title in UFC 98 and Remains Undefeated

Saturday night, May 23, at 3 minutes 57 seconds before the end of round 2 of the light heavyweight title match at UFC 98, Lyota Machida (aka "The Dragon") took the title away from reigning champ Rashad Evans.

The fight ended when Machida just laid into Evans, backing him up against the cage with a brutal barrage of punches, and finishing him off with a left that sent Evans reeling back onto the mat. Making this an even more intense battle was that it pitted two undefeated MMA fighters against one another, ensuring that one of them would forever lose that status. Turns out it was Evans, who can no longer ever claim to be unbeaten.

This makes for the fourth time this title has changed hands in five matches.

The other big news of out of UFC 98 is Matt Hughes win by unanimous judges decision in a bout of fellow former welterweight champ Matt Serra.
