Penn In: Rosholt, Jackson Out
So UFC 107 is coming up on Dec. 12 in Memphis, Tennessee, and everyone's looking at BJ Penn to take Diego "The Nightmare" Sanchez down and down hard. The reigning UFC lightweight champ, BJ Penn is a 155-pound extreme cage fighter. Diego Sanchez is The Ultimate Fighter Season 9 champ.
But while Penn stays in - looking like a sure thing to hold onto that title - Jake Rosholt is out, not in the sense of having lost his bout against Kendall Grove by submission at UFC 106, but because the UFC dropped him entirely. Rosholt came into the UFC last year (around this time, actually) with a 5-0 record, and promptly got his rear end handed to him on a platter in his first UFC fight (vs. Dan Miller).
Memphis is the hometown of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, former light heavyweight champion, who was originally slated to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 107, but is now pursuing a career in acting and no longer fights for the UFC (or MMA, for that matter).
