UFC 79 Nemesis Results
The year end Ultimate Fighting Championships event did not disapoint anyone who was attending or viewing via pay per view. UFC 79, Nemesis, was packed full of great fights and even one for the ages. Chuck Liddel and Wanderlei Silva put on a stand up war with Liddel taking home the unanimous decision over Silva.
In the "co main event" GSP submitted Matt Hughes, in what will more then likely be Hughes last fight in the UFC. St. Pierre worked relentlessly on the ground and took down Hughes with ease in the first and second rounds before finally working his way into an arm bar to finish the fight. This was some what of a surprise since many thought GSP had the advantage in the stand up, but he proved he also had the superior ground game over Hughes as well. St. Pierre will now wait in hopes that Matt Serra will be able to recover and face GSP some time in 2008.
