UFC 79 Undercard Finalized
By now everyone knows who is headlining the final UFC event of 2007 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The 2 top fights of the card and potentially of the year are Hughes vs. GSP and Liddel vs. Silva. However, there are some great up and coming fighters ready to square off on the undercard at UFC 79: Nemesis.
On the televised undercard an other former Pride fighter, Rameau Sokoudjou, will be making his UFC debut against Lyoto Machida. While I have never seen either fighter in the ring, both have proven they are ready to step into the spot light. Sokoudjou has proven he is a top contender with knockout wins over two top ten guys in Ricardo Arona and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. While Machida is a perfect 11-0 in his professional career.
The undercard also features fighters from past TUF competitions. Melvin Guillard will make his first UFC pay per view fighting the very experienced Rich Clementi. Guillard is coming off a submission loss to Joe Stevensen. In his last 5 fights Guillard has either knocked out his opponent or been submitted by his opponent.
Also, from the 5th season of TUF Manny Gamburyan, the runner up, is set to fight Nate Mohr in the light weight division. Gamburyan had to yield to Nate Diaz in the TUF 5 final due to injury and this is his first fight since the injury.
The end of year UFC event is generally the top pay per view event of the year and this year is no different. The number of great fighters on this card far eclipses any other card of 2007. The fight of the year could come from any of 4 fights at UFC 79: Nemesis.
